Essence over form underpins so much of belief, imo. It is an area many are unwilling to touch for fear of rocking the boat of conservatism. For that I admire your courage. In fact, I was reflecting on the ‘golden cow’ story just yesterday. I recall it from my time at Madressa but had no idea it had Quranic roots.
It would be useful if you could provide examples of where you believe laws can be abrogated.
The verse of giving Sadaqa before approaching the prophet was abrogated according to all, together with other verses the scholars have listed in the verses that have been abrogated in terms of the law.
My own view of abrogation is slightly different – I believe in a cyclic form of abrogation which is always re-occurring. You could read that on my paper on adoption where the issue of Mu’akhat that was initiated by the sharia was later abrogated
